Carminic Acid

Beetle juice; not just a hilarious Micheal Keaton comedy, but one of the ingredients found in fast food and grocery store products under the name carminic acid. This commonly used red food dye is extracted from the dried, crushed bodies of female scale insects called cohineal (including beetles). You can find this all-natural (albeit hurl-inducing) ingredient in a variety of food products, including processed poultry such as some chicken nuggets.
